Apple is _not_ UNIX (or “the stupid things that Apple has stripped away from OS X’s UNIXisms for no good reason”)

I used to be an all-Linux guy (well, except for the occasional BSD. But primarily Linux: all personal systems… and definitely all servers). For more than a decade.
And then I decided to move more to the Mac for my personal systems. I’m still very much a command-line guy, though. And I’ve tried to use my Macs as a “glorified UNIX shell with a better user/GUI experience (wifi, bluetooth, etc.)”.
