An easy way to remember NGINX 502 vs 504

After getting asked one too many a time by developers who can’t remember, I finally decided to sit down and come up with some sort of way to help them remember. This is the result: a little “rhyme”.

(From the perspective of “NGINX”):

“502 it’s not me, it’s you;
504, waited too long!”

UPDATE: after thinking about it some more and trying again for better clarity:

“502, you went away, you;
504, I waited too long!”

I think this second version is better. :)
